January 13, 2018: January Get-together Cancelled.  Winford writes:  "Because of the weather (snow and ice) we are skipping this month’s Tech get-to-gether. The streets are covered with ice and snow. The temperatures are in the middle twenties during the day and teens at night. The sun is our today and the streets are clearing but they will freeze again tonight."

December 22, 2017: Very sad news.   We've just learned that our Class President Jim Anderson passed away this afternoon. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral home on Thursday, December 28 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with the funeral to be held Friday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at Memorial Park.  Our condolences to Shirley and the Anderson Family.  (The obit has now been posted on the IN MEMORIAM page of the website).

January 14, 2017:  January Get-together  Winford reports that 14 were present at yesterday afternoon's Get-together. Welcome back Sue.  (Her first visit since a long recovery from a broken hip).  And now we learn that Bobby Ricks fell five weeks ago and broke his hip ... now in the Jewish Rehab Center.  The bones were still in place so they didn't operate and are just allowing his hip to heal.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the Get-together page of the website.

December 11, 2016:  December Get-together  Winford reports that 20 were present at the yesterday afternoon Get-Together.  Jesse and Glenda have moved back to Olive Branch and were at the Get-Together.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the Get-together page of the website.

November 13, 2016:  November Get-together  Winford reports that 14 were present at last night's Get-together dinner.  The group also decided to change to "Winter Hours" next month ... and meet at 1:30 PM on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the Get-together page of the website.

October 12, 2016:  Doris Fleming - January 23,1933-October 10,2016  Our Classmate Doris Fleming Bramucci passed away October 10 in Marion, Arkansas.  Her obituary is now posted on the Memoriam page.  Our condolences to the Bramucci family.

October 9, 2016:  October Get-together  Winford reports that 12 were present at last night's dinner. (Football does cause a drop in attendance).  Joyce's photos are now posted on the Get-together section of the website.

September 18, 2016:  Missing Classmates  Through the efforts of Linda Wayman and Sue Lee Johnson, five more of our classmates can now be removed from the "Missing List".  Sadly, they are all now deceased:  Anita Simpson, deceased May 14, 1994 ...Rosie Mogridge, deceased 11-23-2000 ..., Mary Nell Nelson, deceased 12-20-1997 ... Nancy Shipp, deceased 4-25-2004 ... Betty Thompson, deceased 1-8-2000.  The appropriate pages have now been updated on the class website.

July 26, 2016:  Joyce Greenberg Blank . 1933 - 2015.  We have just learned that our classmate, Joyce Greenberg Blank passed away November 23, 2015, in California.  Our condolences to the Blank family.

July 1, 2016:  Very Sad News:  Esther Stuart Scott . 1933 - 2016.  Esther's son Chuck called today with the very sad news that Esther had peacefully passed away yesterday after a long battle with Cancer.  Some of her favorite moments in life were staying in touch with old Tech friends during the monthly dinners and reunions.  (And I can tell you that she'd absolutely HATE that I added her 1933 birthdate at the beginning of this note).  Esther's services will be Tuesday July 5 at Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 1:30 - 2:30 PM with the service at 2:30 PM.  Our sincere condolences to Chuck and the Scott family.  There is a really big void in the Tech family.  Esther's Obit has now been posted on the Class Memoriam Page of the website.

June 21, 2016:  June Get-together.  Sorry the pictures are late.  Your webmaster was on a vacation and just returned a couple of days ago.  Joyce is still recuperating and Sue, once again, came to the rescue and took the photos at the dinner.  Thanks Sue.  The photos have now been posted on the Get Together page of the website.

April 10, 2016:  April Get-together.   Winford reports that 19 were present at last night's dinner.  Joyce's photos are now posted on the Get-Together page of the website.  Winford said that next month on our regular dinner date, our group will join the 1942-52 group for their dinner.  There's no other information to post for that date because the 1942-52 group did not send an announcement or notify me.

September 9, 2015:  Ben Chapman - May 25, 1933 - July 8, 2015.  Roy Johnson has written that classmate Ben Chapman passed away July 8, 2015.  There will be a military funeral September 18, in California.  His obit is now posted on the Memoriam page of the website.  Our condolences to the Chapman family.

July 28, 2015:  Marvin Richardson:  January 11, 1930 - July 23, 2015.  Sue reports that classmate Marvin Richards passed away July 23, 2015.  Visitation will be tomorrow evening, July 29,  5-7 PM at St. Lukes United Methodist Church on Highland, with services the following morning at 11 AM.  Marvin's very nice obituary has been posted on the In Memoriam page of the website.

June 24, 2015:  Edgar Buffaloe. July 26, 1931 - June 23, 2015.   Sad news!  We have been advised of the death of classmate Edgar Buffaloe on June 23rd.  Visitation will be 5-7 PM, June 25th and funeral at 10 AM June 26th, Memphis Memorial Park.  The obituary has now been posted on the Memoriam page of the website.  Our condolences to Jean and the Buffaloe family.

March 28, 2015:  Sad News.  Sue's sister Bobby Lee Harrell (Tech 1950) died March 27, after a long illness.  Visitation will be April 1,  5-7 PM.  The funeral will be Thurs, April 2, 10 AM - both at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS.  Our condolences to Sue and the Harrell family.

March 14, 2015:  Carl Kimberlin . January 13, 1933 - March 13, 2015.   Sad news!  Sue has notified us that Carl Kimberlin died March 13, 2015.  Visitation will be March 17, 11:00-12:00, Mineral Wells United Methodist Church, 5400 Center Hill Road, Olive Branch with Funeral Service following at the same church, 12:00 PM.  Internment will be March 17, Southwoods Cemetery, 5484 Hacks Cross Rd. Memphis (No time announced).  The obituary will be posted when it's published.  Our condolences to Ann and the Kimberlin family.

February 16, 2015:  February Get-together  Winford reports that Susan Cave took the photos for Saturday's Get-together.  He and Joyce weren't able to attend due to a wedding.  It was a small gathering of 12.  Thanks Susan.  Your photos have now been posted on the Get-together page.

January 11, 2015:  January Get-together  Joyce is sick and Sue Lee Johnson "subbed for her" last night, making the arrangements and taking the photos.  She reports that 24 were present and that her friend, magician Jimmy Dixon, put a special magic show just for this group.  Thanks Sue and Jimmy.  Sue's photos are now posted on the Get-together page.

December 29, 2014:  Sad News.  Connie has notified us that classmate Lowery Sanders wife Barbara passed away December 22.  She has sent a card on behalf of the class of 1951.

November 30 2014:  Guest Book is now closed.  Sadly, the Guest Book of the website is now closed to new postings, due to over-active and new versions of SPAMMING.  The archives of past Guest Book postings are still there.

November 21 2014:  Carlin Denton Stuart ... July 12, 2014:  Classmate Dale Johnson.  Sad news.   Sue Lee Johnson was notified by a Denver friend of Dale Johnson that he had recently passed away.  The exact date is not known but was believed to be a week to 10 days ago.   He was alone and it's believed that it was a peaceful leave-taking.  Some of Dale's family will be coming to Denver to handle the final details over the next week.    More information as available...

July 9, 2014:  Jo Lynn Yarbrough Smith.  Sad news.  We sadly report that Jo Lynn Yarbrough Smith has passed on and the funereral will be July 10.  Click here for the obituary.  Our condolences to Cortez and the Smith family.

June 15, 2014:  June Photos.  Winford reports that 23 were present at last night's Get-together.  Joyce is feeling better after her bout with pneumonia.  It's good to see her "back at her post".  Her photos are now posted on the Get-together page of the website.

June 15, 2014:  Jo Lynn Smith.  Winford reports the news that our friend Jo Lynn Smith (Class of 1953) has had a stroke and is paralyzed on one side.  Please remember her and Cortez in your prayers.

May 5, 2014:  Joyce Sides Baker.  Sue sends email that Joyce is in the hospital with pneumonia in both lungs. Winford says she's getting along "pretty good" and will probably be there for another 5 days.  No visitors.  Please keep Joyce in your prayers.

April 6, 2014:  Sad News.  Roberta called to report that G.J. Johnson, husband of Mildred Hill Johnson, passed away this morning.  Funeral arrangements have been set for Tuesday, April 8 at Hernando Funeral Home, Hernando, MS.  Visitation 10:00 and service at 11:00 AM.  Our condolences to Mildred and the Johnson family.

April 3, 2014:  Sad News.  Connie Nelson Pittman's sister Eula Nelson Jordan died this morning in Palm Beach, FL, where she had been living for over 40 years.  She was 93 years old and was a Tech graduate, class of 1939.  There are no funeral arrangements ... body donated to research.  Our condolences to Connie and the Jordan family. 

March  22, 2014:  Annual Tech BarBeQue  Sue sent the flyer that the Class of '46 is holding their Annual BarBeQue and have invited all classes from 1942 to 1952 to the event.  It's Saturday, May 31, Pickering Center, 1771 Poplar Pike, 2-6 PM with dinner at 4 PM.  $20 per person.  Reservations must be in by May 26.  Click here to download the Reservation Form and the information for mailing in your check.

March 26, 2014:  Doris McPherson Forbes 1933-2013  Sad News.  We've had an email from Larry Forbes, son of Doris McPherson.  He said " ...She had been living in Dayton Beach, FL since 1974 and sadly passed away on December 16, 2013, at 80 years old."  Larry@CloiesGraphics.com  .  Thank you for letting us know Larry.  Our condolences to you and your family.

September 28 2013:  Sad News.  We've just learned that Bob Boone's son Gordon passed away September 27, in Florida, shortly after been admitted to Hospice.  Our condolences to Bob.

August 27, 2013:  Sad News.:  We have just learned of the recent deaths of two of our classmates.  Harvey Dice passed away on July 13, and Hettyola Cook Harrell passed away on July 27.  Both obituaries are now posted on the Memorial page of the website.  Our condolences to Diane and the Dice family and to N. B. and the Harrell family.

May 31, 2013:  NOTICE - CHANGE OF DATE:  JUNE FISH FRY - JUNE 15:  Winford has notified us that Carl had to change the date for the June Get-together.  The annual FISH FRY will now be hosted by the Kimberlins at their Olive Branch farm on Saturday, June 15, 4 PM. Bring Pot Luck as usual.  Dinner at 6 PM.  Karaoke after dinner.

May 15, 2013:  Gerald McCraken 1932-2013:  Faye has confirmed the arrangements:  Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett.  Visitation Thursday May 16, 5-8 PM.  Service Friday May 17 at 2 PM.   The Obituary has now been posted on the Memorial Page.

May 13, 2013:  Gerald McCraken 1932-2013:   VERY SAD NEWS.  Roberta called to advise that Gerald McCracken passed away this afternoon.  He had been taken back to the hospital with pneumonia and was in ICU.  Everyone thought he was "getting better".  But his heart just wasn't strong enough to overcome it.  There are no arrangements at this time.  Please check back.  Our condolences to Faye and the McCracken family.

May 12, 2013:  Get-together Photos:   Winford reports that there were 17 present at last night's Get-together.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the website.

May 10, 2013:  Updates on Jim and Gerald:   Esther called to let us know that Gerald is now in rehab at King's Daughters and Sons in Bartlett.  He's still weak and has the feeding tube, but his swallowing is improving.  He's also working with a speech therapist.  Jim has recently gotten a good report from his Neurologist.  His voice is still "gravelly" but this is expected to get better.

April 20, 2013:  Updates on Jim and Gerald:   Esther called to let us know that Jim Anderson came home Tuesday.  He's still weak but will continue the recuperating at home.  Gerald McCracken is still not swallowing properly and had a feeding tube which became infected.  He's now on antibiotics to clear that up and will be in the hospital at least one more week and then rehab therapy. 

APRIL 15, 2013: Get-together Photos.  Winford reports that there were 28 present at Saturday's Get-together.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the website.

APRIL 5, 2013: Jim Anderson ill.  Esther called to let us know that Jim Anderson will have surgery for blockage of the carotid artery on Tuesday, April 9.  Jim will be at the Baptist East Hospital. No visitors, but your cards and prayers will be appreciated.  Update April 12 from Joyce:  Jim is still in ICU and hopefully will go to step-down tomorrow.  If he does, he may get to go home Saturday.  The Anderson's son is here to help out.  Update April 15.  Jim is still in the hospital.

APRIL 1, 2013:  Gerald McCracken ill.  Roberta called to let us know that Gerald McCracken had a heart attack March 25th.  He is out of ICU now but is having difficulty breathing and swallowing.  They're continuing tests.  Gerald is at the Methodist Hospital-Germantown.  Update April 12 from Joyce:  Gerald is now up and walking a bit.  He will soon go to rehab where they will teach him how to swallow.  Update April 15.  Gerald is still in the hospital.

March 12, 2013:  CHANGE OF TIME - April Get-together.   Joyce sends email that April's Get-Together will be changed back to the regular dinner at Perkins Restaurant, 1340 S. Germantown Rd.  Germantown...5 PM .  With daylight savings time, it's still very light at this hour.

March 5, 2013:  Sad News.  Roberta notified us this morning that Mildred Hill Johnson's youngest son Jeff has died.  Visitation will be March 7, at 1-2 PM and the service at 2 PM at the Como, Mississippi Church of Christ.  Take the Interstate South to the Como exit.  Go right 2 blocks to the Como Church of Christ.  Turn right. Our condolences to Mildred and the Johnson family.

February 28, 2013:  Reminder from Connie.  Connie sends a reminder that Bill Irby's funeral is Friday, March 1 at 11 AM.  The service will be in the rotunda.

February 12, 2013:  Note from Delores Irby.  Connie writes that she received a "nice note of thanks from Delores Irby, thanking everyone for their cards, phone calls, and the contribution from the class to St. Jude ... and for putting things on the website about Bill's passing".  She also said that "Bill and she loved all of you and she hopes to see all soon".

January 24, 2013:  Bill Irby's Memorial Service.  Dolores has notified us that the Memorial Service for Bill will be March 1, 2013, 11 A.M., at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis 38125.

January 9, 2013:  Bill Irby  We've just learned that Bill Irby passed away yesterday January 7, 2013.  Religious services will be at Gulf Shores, Alabama.  A memorial will be held in Memphis in about two weeks.  Our condolences to Delores and the Irby family.  The obituary is now posted on the Memorial Page.

January 7, 2013:  Sad News.  We've just learned that classmate Bill Irby has had a stroke and then a heart attack and is not doing well.  Please remember Bill in your prayers.  Updates will be posted whenever they're received.

November 23-28, 2012 - Webmaster has been ill:  I thought I should let you know that I've been in the hospital with two "Small Strokes".  I have almost made a complete recovery except minor numbness in my right thumb and my nose.  However they discovered that my heart seems to beat too slowly during the night and they're now trying medication first before a pacemaker.   The side effects of the medication have been rough.  Plus I'm wearing a portable "Holter" for a week.  But I'm now  doing well.  Gene

June 25, 2012:  Jerry Bolton Radke.  We've been notified of the death of classmate Jerry Bolton Radke by her daughter, Marilyn Greene.  "My mother passed away on June 15th, 2008 in Snellville, GA. She had Rheumatoid Arthritis for many years and, when she fell and cracked her pelvis in March of 2008, she rapidly declined and eventually died of a heart attack at her home.  My dad is still living in Snellville. He is recovering nicely from a broken hip, and I am taking care of him at his home until he is better able to care for himself".

November 20, 2011:  Very sad news:  Roberta sent email that Glenn died last night after almost two weeks in the hospital.  Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar.  The funeral will be Tuesday, November 22, 3 PM at Memphis Funeral Home.  Our sincere condolences to Roberta. December 19, 2010:  "Hell's Kitchen" TV Show.  Classmate Bobby Wright's granddaughter Nona won the "Hell's Kitchen" TV competition.  She'll now become head chef at "The Market" in Los Angeles.  She currently lives in Georgia and will be moving to LA right after the first of the year.  Thanks to Sue Lee Johnson for the update. 

December 7, 2010:  Update on June Ambrose.  Bill Harris left a follow up message:  "June came through her biopsy today with flying colors.  Now it's just wait and see what the pathology lab report says.  That should be available to us tomorrow [Wednesday] or Thursday.  Please continue with your  prayers for a "clean slate".  Follow up on December 8:  "GREAT NEWS!  June's tumor was benign.  Thanks for all your prayers.  Jim Harris, Tech '49"

December 5, 2010:  Prayer Request.  Bill Harris left a message:  "My wife, June (Ambrose), is to go in for a biopsy Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in Huntsville, AL. as a result of her recent annual Mammogram. We would appreciate your prayers. Thanks - Jim"

November 27, 2010:  "Hell's Kitchen" TV Show.  Bobby Wright sends word that his granddaughter Nona is one of the final four contestants on the reality show "Hell's Kitchen" broadcast on the Fox Network.  Check your local channels for the day and time.

November 24, 2010:  Update on Tom Campbell.  Roberta called to say that Bennie Moore Campbell had called her to tell us know that "with help of Hospice, they brought Tom home yesterday and they're both happy he's home.  Bennie wants everyone to know that they're welcome to come by and see Tom".

November 18, 2010:  Tom Campbell.  Roberta called to let us know she talked to Bennie Moore Campbell tonight, and Tom has been in Baptist East for about a week.  He has lung cancer which has spread to his spinal fluid.  They are administering chemo and continuing to run tests - to give him relief.  Please remember Tom and Bennie in your prayers.

November 9, 2010:  Donald Stuart.   We've just learned that Esther's brother Donald Stuart, Tech 1944, died yesterday at 3 AM in a Utah nursing home.  There will be a graveside service November 13, 1:30 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, Masonic Area.  Any memorials may be sent to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.  Our condolences to Esther and the Stuart family.

September 27, 2010:  Classmate ill.  Winford reports that Classmate Bill Nethery has suffered a stroke. He is recovering at home and they are trying to stabilize his blood pressure before he can begin exercising. (Winford also requests prayers for Bill to have a peace that he is in God’s hands and that his wife Janice will have strength and patience to help Bill during this time of recovery).

August 31, 2010:  Update on Nora Boone.  Bob Boone writes:  "Nora had the operation today and she is out of recovery and in the ICU.  The surgeon said she really didn’t need the ICU but felt the additional monitoring there would be prudent.  She is resting and all vitals are OK.  Hopefully the “leak” is corrected!  Her breathing is better and she sounds better too".

August 30, 2010:  Email from Bob Boone.  "A week ago last Saturday Nora had a bad cough and about 2:00pm she got some severe pain after a cough and I took her to the ER.   X-ray showed a collapsed lung and they installed a tube to re-inflate it.  That tube gave problems and a second tube went in but every time they removed the suction, the lung started to deflate again. Today the 3 or 4 lung Doctors had a conference call and the senior surgeon came in, looked at things fiddled with the tube and announced that surgery was necessary and wanted to do it tomorrow but due to Nora being on blood thinners, they will have to wait until sufficient vitamin K has been given to suppress the Coumadin!  I assume surgery could happen Tuesday.  There is an element of risk but it has to be done before she gets any weaker!!! "  Please remember Nora and Bob in your prayers.

August 15, 2010:  August Photos now posted.  Winford reports that "...23 were present at last night's Get-together" and that "Joyce had her first of six Chemo treatments last Wednesday.  So far she has had no side effects and is feeling good".  Joyce's photos are now posted on the Get-together section of the website.

August 8, 2010:  Latest Update on Glenn Lockhart.  Glenn is scheduled to have minor out-patient surgery (Balloon Kyphoplasty) this Wednesday.  It is hoped that surgery will stop the awful pain he's been having in his back. 

August 5, 2010:  Email from Winford.  "Today we visited the oncologist and learned that Joyce will need to have chemo treatment which is supposed to reduce recurrence chances from 28% to 10%. The type of chemo is CMF. Joyce will have 6 treatments or one every three weeks. This will be done at West Clinic which is near to us. No porta-cath will be required. He said it might cause hair thinning but not complete hair loss. Test showed negative for need to take anti estrogen pills which would have been for the next five years. We prayed the doctor would have the wisdom to do whatever is best for total healing and we believe this is necessary. Thank you for all your prayers, cards and concern. Please pray that Joyce will be able to tolerate the chemo."

July 2, 2010:  Joyce's Treatment.  Winford writes:  "We met with the oncology radiation doctor today.  There were two choices that joyce had to decide on for the treatments.  One was 6 weeks of external radiation.  the other was one week of internal radiation (2 times daily for 5 days).  She chose the internal radiation.  this requires a catheter to be installed in the breast which will accept and hold the radiation in the place where the tumor was removed for maybe 15 minutes then withdraw the radiation from the catheter and that is it.  The catheter will require the surgeon to install it.  She will have the treatments within the next two to three weeks.  The method she chose is only offered to patients meeting certain requirements.  We are thankful that this has worked out very well so far.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Thank all of you for your concern".

June 29, 2010:  Update on Joyce.  Winford writes:  "We visited the surgeon today and all the lab information came back negative.  They checked the lymph nodes and they were clear.  The tumor had 5 cm of good tissue surrounding it when 3 cm would have been OK.  the next step is up to the radiologist this coming Friday.  The doctor and we were happy with the result.  Dr. Berry (the surgeon) feels that she will receive some sort of radiation treatments but that will be up to the radiologist.  An appointment will be set up with an oncologist at a later date, although our surgeon does not think chemo will be needed.  Thank you for your prayers.  Please continue".

June 21, 2010:  Joyce's Surgery.  Winford writes:  "The lumpectomy surgery was performed today.  The doctor was pleased with the outcome and was 90% sure that the lympth nodes were clear of cancer.  We will know for sure when we get the results of the tissue examinations that will be done.  We should know something by next week when we see the surgeon on Tuesday.  Thanks to everyone for the prayers.  Please continue to pray that the final results will be OK".

June 20, 2010:  June Photos.  Winford has forwarded Joyce's photos of the Fish Fry at the Kimberlins and they have now been posted on the Get-together section of the website.  Esther reports that there were 35 at the gathering.  (Note:  Tomorrow is the day for Joyce's surgery.  Please remember her in your prayers).

June 8, 2010:  New Update on Joyce.  Email from Winford:  "Today we had a consultation with Joyce’s breast cancer specialist Dr. Berry. They brought us up to date on just what we are facing. We came out of the meeting optimistic that the cancer can be removed by lumpectomy. The follow up treatments will be decided after the surgery. They now think they will recommend six weeks of radiation. They may recommend chemo therapy and/or radiation treatments based on the lymph node examination. The outpatient surgery is scheduled for Monday June 21st. Please pray that the surgery will successfully remove all the cancer. Thank you for your prayers". 

June 2, 2010:  Update on Joyce.  Email from Winford:  "Most of you already know that Joyce has breast cancer. We visited our family doctor today and he was encouraged that we may have found the cancer early. She has an appointment with Dr. Michael Berry this coming Tuesday. The surgery will probably take place as soon as possible after that. Thanks for your prayers."

May 27, 2010:  Prayer request for Joyce:  Email from Winford, "Joyce will be having a biopsy on her breast tomorrow. Several weeks ago she had a mammogram that showed something. She was referred to Baptist women’s hospital for further tests and the doctor found something that she says must be taken out. The biopsy will be taken tomorrow and then surgery will be later. March 26, 2010:  Bob Boone email.  Bob writes, "Sunday morning...Nora complained of pain in her chest.  About 7:45 PM we went to the ER.  After many tests, the doctor said she had a small clot on her left lung.  She will be in the hospital until Saturday ... on Coumadin and will require oxygen for a considerable period.  With her back problems and surgeries, she's been through hell the past 4 years".

February 21, 2010:  Update on Glenn.  Roberta called "Glenn comes home tomorrow.  He still can't walk or get out of bed by himself.  Therapists and nurses will be coming to the house several times during the coming week. It'll be 2 weeks before a routine schedule is worked out and Roberta would rather not have company until after 2 weeks".

February 14, 2010:  Get-together Photos.  Winford reports that 16 were present at last night's dinner with several no-shows.  Sue brought special personalized place mats for the guests.  Each mat contained photos of Tech, and personalized yearbook photos of the individual.  The mats were a gift from Maureen White, a very gifted friend of Tech, who created them.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the website.

February 6, 2010:  Update on Glenn Lockhart.  Glenn has been moved to Healthsouth on Austin Peay Highway, Room 110B.  He will begin Rehabilitation today.  They'll evaluate his progress and determine how long they think he might have to be here.

January 26, 2010:  Phone call from Roberta:  Glenn broke his hip last night and will need surgery.  Will add more info later.  Update 1-28:  Glenn was in lots of pain at the hospital.  Surgery on Wednesday Evening went well and relieved most of the pain.  He's doing well.  Today (Friday) his muscles are "very sore".  When the hospital releases him, he won't go home.  Instead he'll go to a Rehab Hospital for several weeks.  (Please remember Glenn and Roberta in your prayers).

January 2, 2010:  Prayer Request Email from Joyce:  "Sammie Foster Edmundson's husband Sy has Pancreatic Cancer.  He is in pain and is going to different doctors several days a week.  Please pray for Sy and Sammie."

October 23, 2009:  CHANGE OF GET-TOGETHER DATES.  (Phone Call from Connie Nelson Pittman).  Because of declining numbers at the get-together dinners, especially whenever there's a sports event, the Reunion Committee made an "executive decision" to change the date of the Get-together dinners to THURSDAYS for the rest of the winter season.  This will be tried on a temporally basis until Spring, at which time a decision can be made to continue or to return to the Saturday dates.  MARK YOU CALENDARS now.  The next dinner will be Thursday, November 12, and will continue on the 2nd Thursday of each month, unless there's a special function at an individual's home.

August 21, 2009:  Jim Hood is seriously ill.  Jim Hood was on vacation in Colorado.  While changing planes in Phoenix, he began coughing up blood.  He was rushed to a Phoenix hospital where he is now in extremely critical condition in an induced coma so he won't move or cough.  At this time they do not know what caused the condition.  Prior to this trip, Jim had begun new medication 2 months ago.  The new medicine proved to be the right one and finally Jim had returned to his old self).    Thanks to Roberta for the information)

June 21, 2009:  Very Special New Tech Website.  A new website has just opened on the internet.  This one features "The Tech Ledger" - which lists EVERY student who ever registered at Tech, along with their place of birth, date of birth, age, grade, parent's names, address, phone number and the school they last attended.  The ledger goes from 1929 to 1952 and contains 772 pages.  It's a GREAT source of information for anyone searching for their family's history.  Thanks to Sue for scanning all 772 pages.  I'm still in the process of putting them on the website.  Check it:  http://techhighledger.com

June 13, 2009:  FISH FRY CANCELLED.  The Fish Fry at the Kimberlins has been cancelled due to yesterday's severe storm.  Check back later to see if it's re-scheduled.

June 3, 2009:  Classmate is ailing.  Glenn Lockhart is in CardioVascular ICU at Baptist Hospital East.  His oxygen levels are quite low and his body has been retaining too much liquid.  They expect Glenn to remain in CV-ICU at least 4 days while he loses 60 more pounds of fluid.  Roberta says that after losing 20 pounds of fluid Glenn is already feeling better and is joking with the nurses.

December 18, 2008:  Friend has been sick.  We've just learned that Elizabeth Riggins has been in the hospital with pneumonia.   She's home now and is doing fine.  Stay well Elizabeth!

November 9, 2008:  November Get-together.  Esther reports that 19 were present at last night's Get-together.  Since Joyce and Winford were out of town, Esther took the photos and dropped them off in a "secret place" at the Baker's house.  As of this time, Winford hasn't retrieved them and sent them in.  We'll post them as soon as he does.  November 11:  Please note.  The photos are now posted.  Esther's camera wasn't working properly and all the photos are blurred.  We posted them on the November page only so we have a record of attendance.

October 14, 2008:  Update on Bob Boone's wife Nora.  Bob Boone reports that after the 4th back surgery, Nora has no pain in her leg - for the first time in 3 years.  She is now home and is able to get in/out of bed and put on her brace without assistance.  Nora will have a long rehab while she regains the muscle tone back to where it was when this pain began.  Bob thinks they are finally "out of the woods."

September 9, 2008: Sad News.  Glenn has notified us of the death of Larry Cresswell (Tech 1956) on September 9, 2008.  Larry is the brother of Johnny Pearson's wife Shirley and the husband of Irma Phifer Cresswell, Tech 1956.   Arrangements are as follows:  Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar.  Visitation Thursday September 11, 6 - 8 PM.  Funeral Services Friday Sep 12, 11 AM.  Any memorials should be sent to St. Jude.

August 24, 2008:  Rob Jolly is very ill.   We have just learned that our friend and Tech Historian Rob Jolly is very ill with Lupus, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (where increased amounts of abnormal antibodies are produced that attack the patient's own organs) and a Staph Infection.  He has been sick 6 weeks and they have had to amputate the ends of two fingers.

The Tech Alumni website would not have been possible without Rob and his collection of Tech Yearbooks.  And he has graciously set up exhibits of his Tech Collection at almost all of the Tech Reunions.

August 18, 2008:  Memories of Growing up in Memphis   One of the new sections of the Tech Alumni (http://memphistechhigh.com) website called MEMPHIS, has a page called MEMPHIS MEMORIES, where visitors can share their memories of the Memphis of their youth.  This section is catching on and there have been over 14 new "memories" posted during the last week.  Please visit this section and fill out the form with your Memphis Memories in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's.

August 12, 2008:  Update email from Jim Keefe.  "I wanted to send a note to tell you what's going on in my world.  We just came home from a week in Florida with my family, or most of them.  We had 14 at a condo and had a wonderful time.  Not all were able to be there, but we had a wonderful time.

I had a tumble in the yard the week before we went and had to have a little surgery, but I'm better now.  The chemo continues tomorrow... dose 3.

I am weak, but able to walk, think a little, and do some email.  This tumor is still growing, but  so far so good.  I hope you will share this with others and forgive me from trying to send it to everyone.  I will try and send an update after chemo and doctor visit tomorrow.  Needless to say things are not the same, but could be worse.  I love you all, and thanks for your thoughts and prayers, I need all I can get.  Best wishes to all my family and friends, you mean a lot to me, and I hope you are all well and happy.  Love:  Jim Keefe"

July 11, 2008:  Update on Joyce's knee surgery.  Winford writes:  "Joyce's surgery went well and the doctor was pleased.  She had to stay overnight and has walked twice since the surgery.  She is coming home this morning.  Her sister Jean is with her and will stay awhile".

June 18, 2008:  New GUESTBOOK.  Yesterday I suddenly discovered that our Message Board has not functioned for a couple of weeks.  Spent 2 days looking for another and finally found one this afternoon.  It has now been installed.  I would appreciate it if you would help test it - just write "Testing" on the comment section.  Let me know if you find any "bugs". 

June 15, 2008: July Fish Fry.  Joyce reports that a great crowd of 62 were present at yesterday's fish fry at the Kimberlins.  Her photos are now posted on the Get-together section of the website.

June 13, 2008: Email from Jim Keefe.  After the latest MRI, Jim Keefe writes: "The news wasn't what we hoped for.  Tumor has grown 2mm in the last month.  Am switching to a newer medication in two weeks.  I'm doing well as possible, gaining weight, sleeping fine, staying active, spirits good, energy low, but still mobile.  Slight head pressure, but might get that fixed.  They took my driving privileges away.  Memory is about 90%...and now I can use that "I can't remember" as a great excuse!"

June 3, 2008:  News about Gene Howard.  Email from Joyce:  "Just heard that Gene Howard had a stroke Friday evening and is in Baptist East where they are running tests.  He has regained his speech and was not paralyzed.  He needs our prayers".  UPDATE June 6:  Gene is still in the hospital.  They put a pace maker in because he had irregular beats and they have not been able to get his blood pressure down. 

June 2, 2008:  Tech Website Ad in Commercial Appeal.  There will be a small ad for the Tech Alumni Website in the Commercial Appeal on June 4 and again on June 6.  Please look for it, and cut it out and send to Tech friends from other classes.

May 26, 2008: Advance Notice: June Get-together.  Carl and Ann Kimberlin will again host the June "Fish Fry" Get-together at their Olive Branch home on June 14 at 5:30 PM.  Bring vegetables, salads, and food to go with fish.

May 15, 2008: Email from Jim Keefe.  "We didn't get good news today as the doctors advised me that my brain tumor has grown since the last MRI in February.  At this point, we don't know what that means, but it certainly isn't a positive situation.  I'll be seeing the Neuro-Surgeon next Wednesday for his view of this turn of events.  The doctor who prescribes the chemotherapy says we will do another MRI on June 9th to get an idea of the growth factor.  She has advised that a different therapy may be called for, including IV therapy.  Thanks for all your prayers and concerns.  At present, we're fine and I don't have any new symptoms".  Please continue to remember Jim and Natalie in your prayers and I'm sure Jim will appreciate hearing from you.

May 13, 2008: Sad News.  We've just learned of the recent death of our classmate Robert Fuchs in Florida.  No other details.

April 19, 2008: Email from Bob Boone. Bob Boone writes that after almost 2 years of severe pain and 2 spinal operations, Nora had her 3rd Operation at the Laser Spine Institute in Tampa on April 17. For the first time in 18 months she is PAIN FREE.  Her muscles are weak from lying in bed all this time, but with therapy and exercises, they expect her to recover real fast.  Thanks for this good news Bob.

March 10, 2008: Advance Notice - April Get-together . The April Get-together will be held at the home of Jim and Shirley Anderson on April 12.  Natalie and Jim Keefe and Gene Gill have already committed to be there - hoping to see lots of classmates.  It's always a "fun-time" at the Anderson's.

March 8, 2008:  March Get-together . Attendance was down at the monthly Get-together because of the late snow.  (Everyone knows that Memphis closes down in a snow).  Susan Cave reports that 14 were present.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the Get-together page.

March 5, 2008: Carl Kimberlin has Proton Treatment.  Carl has just returned from Mexico, where he had the Proton Treatment for Prostate Cancer.  This treatment has been used successfully for some time in many countries in Europe - just not available in the US at this time.  Carl is feeling well and "...is doing GREAT". 

March 1, 2008:  Sad News.  We are saddened to report that Tech Historian Rob Jolly's mother passed away February 29.  Click here for the obituary.  Our condolences to Rob and the Jolly family.

February 27, 2008:  GOOD NEWS Update Email from Jim Keefe.  " I met with the doctors today and they had good news.  The tumor has not grown and appears dormant.  The MRI shows no active growth, and that is the best news I could have gotten.  This thing is not cured, but it is in remission.  They have scheduled another MRI on  June 4th. as a follow up to see if anything is happening.

The medical oncologist will meet with me on March 5 to determine the Chemo dose as a preventative measure.  I'm told it will be the pill form, and I will take one a day for 5 consecutive days each month, for 3 months. 

I feel good, and the news today was an upper for both of us. 

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, cards, calls, emails and wishes.  This has changed my outlook on life, and I'm more appreciative of my family, friends and look forward to being with as many of you as possible in the near future.  Love:  Jim Keefe"

February 12, 2008:  Update Email and photos from Jim Keefe.   Jim Keefe finished his Chemo and Radiation treatments in January.  Later that month, he and Natalie drove to Florida to escape some of the St. Louis winter.  Jim writes:  "We're in Anna Marie Island, Florida, and I've been steady in improvement.  My appetite is better, I've gotten some sunshine, did a swim in the pool, hit a few golf balls yesterday, and have been walking the beach.  I still get pretty tired in the evening, but am not sleeping much during the day like I was.  The prayers and wishes of you all have worked, and I'm thankful".  Click here to see photos of Jim and Natalie on the beaches.

February 10, 2008:  Classmates ailing and in need of your prayers.  Carl and Ann Kimberlin meet with doctors in Jacksonville FL tomorrow.  They plan to return for Carl's 8 weeks of Proton Treatment for prostate cancer.  Doctors have found a spot on Bobby Newman's pancreas which is delaying his treatment for prostate cancer.  Bill Nethery had bypass surgery recently and is now recuperating.  Your prayers are needed.

February 5, 2008:  Sad News.    We have been looking for our classmate Mary Elizabeth Vowell Voss for a long time.  Sadly, we have just learned that she passed away June 9, 2002 in Memphis.

November 25, 2007:  Sad News.  Marie Franks, wife of classmate Malcolm Franks passed away November 24.  Visitation will be November 26 at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel, 5-8 PM.  Services November 27, 10 AM.  Burial at Forest Hill Midtown.  Our condolences to Malcolm and the Franks family.  Click here for the obituary.

November 22, 2007:  December Get-together.  Carl and Ann Kimberlin will again host our annual Christmas Get-together at their Olive Branch home on December 8, 6 PM.

November 20, 2007:  Jim Keefe ailing.  Jim Keefe had brain surgery November 13 to remove a tumor and will begin radiation and chemo therapy next week.  Jim reports that he is feeling good and "..Everyone has been great and I'm feeling a little guilty with all the attention".  Your cards and prayers for Jim and Natalie will be appreciated.

November 8, 2007:  Sad News.  Sue reports that Melba Cowell Moxley's (Tech 1950) daughter, Annette Moxley Scott died yesterday morning.  Visitation will be tonight from 5-8 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Our condolences to Tom and Melba and the Moxley family.

November 3, 2007:  Last Night's Get-together.  Joyce reports that there were 42 present at the Get-together at Jim Hood's home in Olive Branch.  Joyce's photos have now been posted on the Get-together section of the website.

November 1, 2007:  Web Site 6th Anniversary.  Today, the Class of 1951's website is 6 years old and has had almost 50,000 visitors (49,918).  Happy Anniversary to us!

October 14, 2007:  Last Night's Get-together.  Joyce reports that there were 24 present at last night's Get-together.  Her photos have now been posted on the Get-together section of the website.

October 13, 2007:  Classmates need your prayers.  Joyce reports on two of our classmates:  Carl Kimberlin's prostate biopsy was malignant.  He will be going to the doctor next week to discuss his options.  Doris Fleming Bramucci has been in the hospital with congestive heart failure.  She is home now and on medication.  Please remember Carl and Doris in your prayers.

October 13, 2007:  Advance notice about the NOVEMBER Get-together.  Jim Hood will host the November Get-together at his Olive Branch home on FRIDAY, November 2, at 5 PM.  Connie will be getting out a notice soon.  Jim is still in the discovery stage of how much brighter the world is after his recent successful cataract surgery.  He'll have surgery on the second eye in two weeks.

October 3, 2007:  Classmates visit Ann Dendy Biggs.  Jim-Shirley Anderson and Joyce-Winford Baker visited Glenn and Ann Dendy Biggs at their San Antonio ranch this past weekend.  They all said it was a fabulous visit with the perfect hosts.  Joyce has shared some photos with this website and they have been posted on the SPEC OCCASION section.
