Tunica Queen Riverboat Cruise

July 2004:  Bill and Sue Lee Johnson, along with Sue's sister Barbara and her husband Herbert, took a fun Riverboat cruise on the Tunica Queen.  This authentic riverboat sails from the new Tunica River Park in the Tunica Casino Resorts area.

The afternoon cruise, "Mississippi River Lore", centers on life on the Mississippi when riverboats were the primary mode of luxury transportation. There's an extended video created exclusively for the Tunica Queen, which provides an in-depth look at the rich and colorful river-boating era. Sandwiches, refreshments and specialty drinks can be purchased, while listening to traditional tunes by a strolling banjo player. A live narration by the Captain about the river and points of interest, is featured as the cruise continues.  There are also mid-morning Coffee Cruises, Delta Deli Lunch Cruises, and Dinner-Entertainment Cruises.

Odds and Ends:  The Gold Strike Casino at the Tunica Casino Resorts is the tallest building in Mississippi.  Only "Riverboat Casinos" are allowed in the state.  They must be able to say that they're "on the Mississippi".  In order to qualify, the Gold Strike Casino had a channel dug out to extend the Mississippi up to it.  That shiny, modern curved structure in the photos, is the new River Park Museum, which explores the mystery and majesty of the mighty Mississippi.
